8.2 General Dissemination of Information
Cambodian Mine Action Authority (CMAA)
- L1S Project Manager in regular contact with Secretary General of the CMAA.
- Canada-based President and Vice President visits to CMAA bi-monthly.
- Capacity-building and familiarization of CMAA with L1S data and data-management systems via secondment of CMAA Database Manager, Mr. In Channa to L1S for the final six months of the survey.
- L1S data and applications installed on CMAA international specialists' computers in early March
Cambodian Mine Action Center (CMAC)
- Regular visits to L1S database by CMAC Database Manager Mr. Kim Lee.
- Regular weekly meetings during January and early February of L1S Project Manager and Database Manager with representatives from CMAC Planning; Operations; Socio-Economic and EOD Units regarding the potential application of L1S data for CMAC planning purposes. (Finance Unit was present at latest meeting). Operations Director, Tong Try and Operations TA, Marc Bonnet were the lead contacts for the L1S in this regard.
- Installation of L1S data and related applications to computers in various CMAC departments (see above). Training in the use of the applications for approximately 10 CMAC staff (latest reports indicate the application is being used by these staff members).
- Follow-up meeting planned for early March to discuss ease of use; utility of information; problems; other observations and comments.
- Additional meetings with CMAC related to planning and logistics for equipment and staff handover, and arrangements for Mine Awareness Day as the L1S will be a major participant.
Relationships between L1S and CMAC and L1S and CMAA have been very collegial. Data and/or other services requested by either organization have been made available as a priority. Particular effort has been make to ensure that both organizations are informed as to L1 progress, findings and activities particularly in relation to the distribution of data to other Cambodian and foreign agencies and organizations.
Other End Users
The L1S has provided database demonstrations and working sessions and has distributed a variety of standardised and custom-made reports and maps to a wide range of end users.

Mines Advisory Group (MAG)
- The L1S provided an introductory training to ten MAG minefield supervisors. Training focused on database output and GIS displays.
LUPU Battambang
- Digital database files and the application were made available to LUPU Battambang on request of the Provincial Governor and with the approval of CMAA.
Feedback from all end users is being used to further develop and refine the array of data queries and outputs available.
